On the release of It’s A Wonderful Life, this Frank Capra creation was a hit with the head honchos in the Academy Awards office. In fact, it was nominated for five awards, including the cherry on top of every filmmaker’s cake, the Best Picture award. Many people don’t feel as though it’s really Christmas until they’ve settled down with their family to watch it!
Since then, it’s been regarded as one of the most iconic movies ever made, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a few mistakes. While George is on the phone to Harry, we see the wreath makes its way from the table, to his arm, and to the table again. However, considering this film was made in 194 with expensive film and no editing software, we’ll let them have their mistake.
A.I Artificial Intelligence (2001)
In 2001, the world was blessed with a brand new sci-fi drama, in the form of AI. Artificial Intelligence. This Steven Spielberg creation follows the life of David, played by Haley Joel Osment. David is a Mecha who integrates himself into human life as a human child.
Of course, we all know that isn’t the case, he’s a machine. But if he’s not a human, why does Haley Joel Osment have a scrape on his knee? We have a feeling this kid actor, who was huge back then thanks to films like Sixth Sense too, actually bought his own injury on set. While this movie was nominated for two Academy Awards, it eventually fell short of an actual win.
Black Panther (2018)
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always provided us with some of the best movies in existence, but it seems as though nobody was expecting just how awesome Black Panther would be. It smashed plenty of records when it comes to Marvel movies and everyone loved the fact it had such a stunning lineup of actors and actresses.
This incredible production featured an epic cast, an incredible soundtrack, and an even better story. However, T’Challa’s shoes have been slightly problematic. Although we learn that he is given silent shoes, halfway through the movie we start to hear his footsteps. How is that possible? We’ll let them off, however, as this Marvel movie managed to scoop up an impressive three Oscars!
If you’re a big Harry Potter fan, you’ll know that the sign of the Deathly Hallows plays a huge part in the storyline. So, it was an exciting moment when Xenophilius Lovegood grabbed some parchment and a quill to draw the sign in all of its glory. We finally got to see the sign and it should have been one of the pivotal moments of the whole film.
Yet, the filming of this scene doesn’t quite add up. During one shot, the Elder Wand touches the bottom of the Resurrection Stone. In another shot, there’s a gap between the two. This is obviously not the same drawing. It’s a shame, but it definitely doesn’t ruin the whole moment for us. Well, not much anyway. We can’t speak for all Potterheads though, of course.
North by Northwest (1959)
North by Northwest is arguably one of the most iconic movies to ever grace the big screen. After all, it’s an Alfred Hitchcock movie! While this movie was nominated for three separate Oscar Awards, it seems as though the head honchos on the panel missed this impeccable movie as it won zero.
However, maybe that’s because they noticed a couple of small errors like this one. For example, if you look closely during the Mount Rushmore cafe scene, you’ll see that the young actor behind Eve is putting his fingers in his ears before the weapon in her hands is even shot… It looks like someone was anticipating the gunshot! It’s still a classic, however, and is definitely worth watching.
