Communication is the key element of any company, whether it’s working with clients or teams, sharing ideas, getting feedback, or quickly deciding on the deadlines for projects, and other important details. Virtual tools provide teams with the ability to communicate effortlessly, no matter where they are in the world or on the opposite side of the table.
This article employs the method of bibliometric analysis to analyze the most influential publications by authors, journals, and authors in research on the application of virtual tools in teaching processes. The aim of this article is to analyze the development and progress of these technology in academic institutions and to present the latest trends and perspectives for future applications (Villa and colleagues. 2018).
To do so, a citations matrix was developed using the SCOPUS database, which contains books with high recognition by scientists and a broad coverage of specialized texts within each subject area. The main search criteria were terms comparable to virtual tools used in teaching-learning processes, as well as the keywords “teaching learning”.
The most relevant articles were those that specifically focused on the use of chats, forums on the internet and teleconferences to teach and managing education processes. These articles highlighted the benefits of using these tools and also how they can be a great alternative to traditional classrooms. They also pointed out that they encourage active participation.
