Facebook Marketing – Get On Board Or Get Left Behind?
I would like to thank Pam Slim from “Escape from Cubicle Nation” for the inspiration for this post. Slim penned her now famous blog post in which she wrote to CEOs, CFOs, and the like, as to why she was fed up with the corporate culture and how it sucked people’s souls from their bodies.
Besides the day to day learning at school, about doing paper work the right way, and stuff like that. Yeoman school was pretty much just like any other school, you would learn stuff at. Except here, you wore a uniform, and had to get into formation each morning, and listen to things being told to you.
In both cases I find it very helpfully to fully understand what the company does and how they make money before trying to express an opinion. Some of the most useful ways of ramping on a company is through the MD&A in the annual 10K, earnings transcripts, and sell-side initiation reports. Try not to let the sell-side equity research team guide you in the decision. Sell-side analyst’s are almost always “perma bulls” and have often-time wrong as many times as they’re right.
Having said all this, university entrance is important. Achieving the best one can achieve is also important. Having the right environment is very important. So what makes for the ‘right’ environment then? Is the right environment one where the kids wear ties and have strict discipline? Is it where they have a bigger lap pool than the ‘competing’ schools? Is it having the right quantitative statistics to ‘prove’ their success? Is it the one that the other parents will be jealous of when they hear about it down at the tennis club?
Tip 3- Aim for a cruddy first draft. Nothing kills creativity worse than perfectionism. If you stop to edit your work while you write, you will start to feel badly about your errors and wonder if what you are writing is fit for anything better than to line a bird cage.

Tip 4- Pay attention to your environment. Notice what you need to write well. Do you need soft music, a cup of tea, or complete silence? Discover the kind of environment you need to enjoy your writing and then create that environment for yourself.
Make time for your writing. Put it in your list of things to do. Enter it into your Google Calendar. Write it on your appointment calendar. It’s that important to your long-term publishing success.
